Outreach Committee
Chair: Angelo Berbotto
The aims of the OUTREACH COMMITTEE are the following:
1 To establish links between ESSDA and those European countries which are still developing s-s dancing and that do not have a national representative body;
2 To encourage cross-communication and exchange of ideas;
3 To develop strategies to raise the profile of s-s competitive dancing in those countries where s-s competitive dancing is a new sport;
4 To find creative ways of bringing more social dancers to the competitive dance floor.
ESSDA´s Outreach Committee presents first results:
ESSDA's Outreach Committee is growing and now consists of 13 persons from 11 countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovaka, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland).
In December 2009, Andrzej Selerowicz compiled a document entitled The Magic Word “Outreach” (which can be viewed at Andrzej’s Reading Room by clicking here: http://members.tripod.com/rainbow_dancers/). Such document provides the basis upon which the ESSDA Outreach Committee is building the country-by-by country report.
This is the first report: Outreach county-by-country report (doc, 340 KB)

April 2010:
Dance Highlights 2009 on
DVD
(deutsche Version)
The preparations are finished, and the first promotion article for Equality DanceSport will be issued soon. It is a DVD titled “ESSDA Dance Highlights 2009” and contains excerpts from the large dance events of 2009 in Europe: the Outgames in Copenhagen and the German Championships in Frankfurt. Precisely speaking, the finals of the General and Senior A Class, Standard and Latin, Men and Women, Show, and Formation. This DVD will be presented for the first time at the competition in Hannover in May 2010.
There are several important reasons for launching this project. First of all, we want to convince more dance couples, especially those in regions where the idea of same-sex dance is still unknown, to compete in Europe. Watching these dance highlights is the best visual way to explain what actually same-sex dance sport is about. But it should not only motivate dancers to start practicing, but also help them to take part in one of the European competitions. All donations will be directed to the ESSDA Outreach Program.
One should not forget another aspect: this item is an important documentation of gay/lesbian sport in general. For dancers, coaches, and adjudicators it is a great moment that will be enjoyed for many year to come. But it also makes the perfect personal gift for family, friends, and fans.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
